Breed: Mixed breed poodle, Gender: Female, Weight: 5kg, Age: 1 year and 5months.

A stray dog was picked up a week ago. At that time the pet owner noticed a limp in its right hind leg. The dog's limp did not improve after the pet owner kept it at home for a week. The pet owner then brought the dog to the hospital. Palpation revealed significant muscle atrophy in the right hind limb and the dog exhibited pain and a friction sound when the hip joint was palpated. X-rays were taken and revealed a fracture of the neck of the femur in the right hind limb with a small amount of bone scab, which was considered an old fracture. The combination of the animal is young and active, the owner's willingness to keep the dog for a long period of time, and the dog's long future survival were taken into account. In order for the animal to have a good quality of life, the decision was made to perform a total hip replacement (THR) after communication with the owner.

We first used BlueSAO iBlueVet orthopedic planning software to give this dogan accurate preoperative planning. He was then given a new artificial joint using BlueSAO Cemented Hip Replacement Systemfor small dogs and cats.

The planned implants used were a #2 femoral stem, a 14mm cup, and an 8mm (+0) femoral head with 8mm (+2) and 8mm (+4) femoral head spares.
