THR Surgery of Hip Dysplasia in a Maine Coon Cat — Dr. Li Yongqi from Tianjin Huating Pet Hospital

Tianjin Huating Pet HospitalDr. Director Li Yongqi2024-02-19 310

A Maine Coon cat, 1 year and 7 months old, male, 8kg.

Chief complaint: walking with twisted buttock, weak bouncing, lethargy and inactivity.

Clinical examination: laxity of the left hip joint with sensitivity to large-angle motion.

Diagnosis: hip dysplasia.

As such, we decided to perform a THR surgery. Accurate preoperative planning was made by BlueSAO iBlueVet. We did the THR surgery by using the BlueSAO Micro & Nano Hip Replacement System for replacement. Besides, a φ12mm cup, a #3 stem, a φ8mm (+2) head, and antibiotic-loaded bone cement were used for the replacement. The surgery was completed successfully. Immediate postoperative luxation testing showed stable results, and the dog is walking smoothly one week postoperatively; the dog is recovering quickly due to the minimal damage from this surgery. Best wishes for an early recovery!

Thanks to Dr. Director Li Yongqi (Tianjin Huating Pet Hospital) for sharing the clinical case of BlueSAO Hip Replacement System.
