Rocky is a twelve year old Samoyed dog who suffers from bilateral hip dysplasia, which led to weakness in his hind limbs and slow rising. To improve his quality of life, after a detailed physical examination, we decided to perform a hip replacement surgery. Due to the obviously severe muscle atrophy in the left hind limb, the first surgery was performed to replace the left hip. Intraoperatively, a φ23mm bionic cup, a φ18mm PEEK femoral head, a #5 stem (with φ 16mm bolt), and a S+3 femoral neck of BlueSAO Bionic PEEK Hip System was adopted for the replacement.
Preoperative video:
Video of Rocky's preoperative walk shows no apparent lameness, but a pronounced wobble in his hind limb.
