This dog suffered from canine hip dysplasia (CHD) and was referred to our hospital by its attending doctor in Shiga Prefecture.
This dog had a subluxation of the left hip joint with obvious muscle atrophy. We used BlueSAO Bionic Hip Joint System for her total hip replacement (THR). This dog recovered well functionally after surgery. Postoperative x-rays on days 61, 103, and 158 showed an increased muscle mass. The gait analysis using the force plate reveals a significant increase in peak vertical force (PVF), which objectively confirmed a good functional recovery.
However, there was a decrease in muscle mass on the right hip joint, so the hip replacement was performed again. The BlueSAO Dual Mobility System was used intraoperatively for THR due to a lack of implants for the Bionic Hip System at our hospital. The dog recovered well after the surgery.
