A golden retriever, nickname: Dandan, 13 years old, male (neutered), 30kg.
According to the dog’s owner, the dog walked on tiptoe on his hind legs and ascended the stairs with difficulty, but ate and drank normally and was in good spirits. DR imaging showed massive bony spur hyperplasia on the bilateral femoral head, acetabular deformity, and one bony spur hyperplasia on the lumbar vertebra. Palpation revealed muscle atrophy in both hind limbs, with pain sensitivity and trembling in the hips. This dog was subsequently diagnosed with degenerative osteoarthropathy of the hip. It was therefore decided to have this dog a hip replacement.
Accurate preoperative planning was made by BlueSAO iBlueVet. We did the surgery by using a φ27mm bionic cup, a φ22mm PEEK femoral head, a #7 biological stem, and an M+0 femoral neck of BlueSAO Bionic Hip Joint System for replacement. The dog is recovering well from the surgery. Best wishes for an early recovery.
Thanks to Dr. Hou Yinhu from Gene Animal Hospital and the Surgical Team of Beijing Eric Animal Hospital for sharing the case of BlueSAO Bionic Hip Joint System.
