A border collie, 9 years old, female (neutered), 17.7kg,suffered from bilateral hip dysplasia with secondary severe arthritis, muscle atrophy, and trembling when standing. Hip pain was noted during palpation, with no significant abnormalities observed in the knee joints. However, X-ray revealed effusion in the right knee joint, requiring further monitoring. A decision was made to proceed with a right hip replacement surgery.

Intraoperatively, a φ19mm bionic cup, a φ16mm PEEK femoral head, a #5 biological stem, and an M+3 femoral neck of BlueSAO Bionic Hip Joint System were adopted for replacement. During the operation, a suspected femoral fracture was identified, which was subsequently fixed with three cerclage wires. The surgery was completed successfully. The dog is recovering well from the surgery, and she could walk freely one week after the surgery. Best wishes for an early recovery.
