A German Shepherd dog, 6 years old, male, 38kg,suffered from lameness in the hind limb, which was diagnosed as hip degenerative lesion. As such, we decided to perform a hip replacement surgery on this dog.Intraoperatively, a φ27mm bionic cup, a φ22mm PEEK femoral head, a #8 biological stem, an M+0 femoral neck, and a φ22mm cortical bone side bolt of BlueSAO Bionic Hip Joint System were adopted for replacement. The surgery was completed successfully, and the dog was able to walk with weight-bearing on the second day after the surgery. Best wishes for an early recovery.
As one of the core principles of medical ethics, "First Do No Harm" emphasizes that medical actions should prioritize avoiding physical and mental harm to patients. A good surgical procedure must cause minimal damage to small animals.
There are always specific or special cases at any time, but we must never take these as the general treatment principles. We strive for clean total hip replacements with the least possible surgical damage and work hard to achieve pain-free joints for small animals.
