A Shiba Inu, nickname: Iman, 3 years old, female, 10kg,presented with a traumatic luxation of the left hip joint caused by a car accident. The decision was made to perform a hip replacement for Iman as imaging tests suggested that Iman already had some degree of hip arthritis and was not suitable for round ligament reconstructive surgery.
Intraoperatively, we adopted a φ15mm PEEK cemented acetabular cup, a φ12mm+2 femoral head, and a #2 cemented femoral stem of BlueSAO Micro & Nano Bionic Hip Replacement System for replacement.
Given that this was a case of traumatic luxation with severe soft tissue damage around the hip, the longer femoral head was selected for tensioned reduction. It can be seen from the video that this dog recovered very quickly after surgery. Despite an abnormal gait on the first postoperative day, this dog had regained a normal gait on the second postoperative day as the postoperative swelling subsided and muscle tone returned.
