Breed: Shiba Inu, Weight: 10.4kg, Age: 9 months, Gender: Male.

This Shiba Inu was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and partial dislocation of the right femoral head at around six months old. Shiba Inus and Akita dogs are breeds that naturally have loose round ligaments, which is one of the reasons why they are prone to hip dysplasia. A few months later, he began to limp slightly on his right hind leg and examination revealed complete dislocation of the right femoral head accompanied by arthritis. The pet owner promptly chose BlueSAO hip replacement system for him.

After calibration based on markers in BlueSAO iBlueVet planning software, appropriate femoral stem prostheses and acetabular cup prostheses were selected. Preoperative planning used a #3L cemented femoral stem, a 16mm cemented cup, and +0,+2,and+4 10mm femoral head prostheses. The final size of the femoral head prosthesis was determined after testing with a model during surgery.

Planned implants: #3L cemented femoral stem, 16mm cemented cup, +0, +2 or +4 10mm femoral head prosthesis.
